Concepts for Nyx's orbs !!! With a few variations because I wasn't sure if they would read well or not. I figure they could spin and be all glowy. Let me know your top three? More comps sort of. 1b and 2b. Tried adding/making spikes even bigger. Concept for Nyx's laser attack. So these frames would basically how it would look like. Referenced Lux's ultimate attack.
It's made up of four parts, asset-wise. Just changed scaling and opacity.

ROUGH ROUGH ROUGH. These are just keyframe block ins, cause I didn't have time to do actual rough animations. And the colors in the gifs turned out pretty weird too, for some reason. The idle/move isn't actually anything yet. - Liz (✪㉨✪) I felt that having Hemera for the Strength and Defense statues would be more fitting than the Players, so I sketched stuff in class. I guess she's kinda tiny compared to the current statues, but thoughts? I can make cleaner sketches that Kiem or I can turn into in game statues. I know this is lower priority but yeah. Also god rays + sparkles around the weapons. 3/9/15 UPDATE: Cleaner sketches and FX concepts !! Cleaner statue sketches. I was wondering if I could just give them to Kiem and she could give them the treatment like Nyx's statues? I didn't put Attack and Defense on them, but we can always add them. Then some FX stuff, which may help Players distinguish when to hit the statue to get power ups. I would like sparkles to float upward and fade, but not necessarily in clumps.
The one on the left is how the statue looks normally, while the one on the right is when Players are in the range to power up. The spotlight and sparkles are brightened when active, and then there are more rays behind the statue as well -- those could grow and shrink (so just warping) or spin around like in Guacamelee (start at 6:15 if the link doesn't work). - Liz (✪㉨✪) Just posting the final animations (without the block-ins) because I'm doing them all at once. If you want, I can post the block-ins up too. I changed her second attack to swing overhead to differentiate her two attacks. Hopefully it works?

Beep boop, making a list of ideas for character VFX and whatnot. RIGHT NOW these are just ideas for VFX they'll always have, and not attack specific or anything like that. This is a start and a WIP post. I'd like if the characters (at least main and bosses) always had a particle effect. Then maybe upgraded or something when the mana was full / special attack? I know it's sort of low priority in the whole scheme of things, but I THINK programmers could take care of particles, since they've been doing some already? TroyI'm still looking ! MiloI feel hesitant sticking with the shapes on their pajamas, BUT Sona from League of Legends would be a good reference for Milo. Yay music ! @1:09 or so, Sona uses her ult (the yellow attack) on the champion on the far right -- I like the effect she has, the bars on the ground with music notes in the air. Probably more art-intensive, but it's an idea. LaraHearts !! Hearts hearts hearts !!!!! Off the top of my head, anyway. Sparkles, too. First reference off the top of my head was Miss Fortune from League of Legends for the hearts @:37, and then there's Popstar Ahri for sparkles, on her tails:
ErisThen stars for Eris. Arcade Miss Fortune is a reference, since she has hearts and stars in this skin, but I wouldn't want her to have similar FX than Lara's. I'll keep looking for more fighter/ninja-ish FX we can reference. But here's something for now: NyxDarkness, of course. Spacey things. From the beginning, Morgana from League of Legends was an inspiration for Nyx. So maybe something like her particles would be cool? Darkness on the bottom, and maybe even small stars or something falling down -- similar to the Blackthorn Morgana Skin? Lissandra was also a reference, and her fx are similar to stuff that we already have, so maybe it's a better reference for enemy VFX.
Syndra's a good reference too, but moreso for Nyx's attacks? They're all good reference for the attacks, but again, I'm just focusing on general FX at the moment. Wanted to drop it here anyway. - Liz (✪㉨✪) Lara's rough basic animations !!! Her's are princess and ballet themed. Forgot about her hesitation in beating up enemies. :( But her hit/death will still have her tearing up. Yaey, Eris' rough basic animations !! Martial arts/fighting themed. Not sure about her second attack, yet? Let me know what you guys think, woo. - Liz (✪㉨✪)
