6.30.14 - 7.6.14 Happy Monday ! Liz here, with some stuff that I did for Twoneironauts over the past week. There's some character stuff, along with a few rough animations and a couple of mock ups ! Characters: Players -- Style Pass Another pass at the Players, trying to bring them more into our current style. Their head shapes were what changed the most from last week, but small adjustments to shapes and gradient usage were also made, such as Milo's headphones and the girl's dresses, respectively. These feel better than the first style pass at the Players, but I feel like the color palettes could be pushed more with a fourth color. Animations: Troy Proxy Model Animations !! :D I made a rough proxy model of Troy in Flash this week, along with a rough run and attack, although these gifs aren't super high quality. A proxy model is needed for an upcoming ART399 Milestone, but it was also good to see:
Using the Guacamelee! files as reference, I created the rough animations, making a few nested symbols but not getting too in depth since these are rough. It was an interesting experience and something I'd like to practice, but I'll have to talk to our other animator to figure out what we'd like to do ! The pillow is also another tricky aspect that we'll have to think about, especially in constructing it. Mock Ups: Color Script & Player UI Passes Another thing that was needed for the upcoming Milestone was a Color Script ! Using some of Kiem's environment concepts, I adjusted the color palettes to our new style and ended up with these thumbs, plopping our Players on as well, to see how it all looked ! These thumbs represent the basic color schemes of the planned progression of our game:
I also did another pass on the Player UI this week, using Castle Crashers and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World as reference.
I think that these are a good change/improvement from the first UI pass, but I know there's still work to do, as the current layout and colors seem a bit generic. I'd really like if we had the Player portraits in the UI though, not just to help with identifying which information is who's, etc., but to also be able to play around with Player expressions and reactions ! So that's about it for this week ! Thank you for reading, and as always, comments, feedback, and questions are always welcome. :D Professor Feedback for this post will be up shortly.
