Hiya, Liz here ! I broke down Guacamelee and the current Twoneironauts environments to really see what they did, what we are doing, and to learn from it all. For simplicity's sake, I broke the environments down into foreground and background vs. foreground, middle ground, and background. Colors

PaintoverI did a quick paintover of the Sunken Forest environment, since it's the most developed environment that we have right now. To move more towards Guacamelee's environment style direction, the biggest "changes" that need to happen are:
• Desaturating the colors even more. • Having less contrast in the background, by using atmospheric perspective and possibly depth of field. • Using more graphic and clear cut shapes and silhouettes. But do we want to be clean cut or imperfect in object placement/execution? • Making it clear where the player can walk vs. where they can't, possibly using contrast, which will also bring the focus to that playable area. • Really playing around with lighting and particle effects and seeing what we can do with them. Right now I feel that we are in an in between style of illustrative vs. graphic, so we need to choose one or the other or we won't be able to make clear and distinct choices.
